Track Name: Crazy For Love
I know a woman, she's crazy for love
she cries in the morning and still can't get enough
she fell for the poetry of a ramblin, gamblin man
cleans herself up and tries her luck again

it's so hard to watch it all unfold
and even harder now to let it all go

I used to drink myself to the point of passing
throw up in the morning and still go out in regular fashion
I used to think I was courting some desperate muse
I'd clean myself up and go out with the desolation blues

it's so hard to watch it all unfold
and even harder now to let it all go
Track Name: Anything At All
baby don’t say anything at all
leave the talking to the walls
take my courage, take my strength
take my beauty, take my name
take my hand, read my palm
my disposition for the holy psalm
but baby, don’t say anything at all
anything at all

baby don’t cry for anything at all
leave the tears for the girls with roses and pearls
take my youth, take my pride
take my muse, take my mind
take my heart, take its fire
take my lust from its desire
but baby don’t cry for anything at all
anything at all

make well of all bad intention
count to ten and count your blessings
baby it’s been one hell of a fall
but I wouldn’t change it for anything at all
anything at all

baby don’t give in to anything at all
leave it to those weak in heart and soul
take my demons, take my wine
take my crutch and take my time
take my pleasure, take my pain
my love for you will still remain
baby don’t give in to anything at all
anything at all

make well of all bad intention
count to ten and count your blessings
baby it’s been one hell of a fall
but I wouldn’t change it for anything at all
anything at all
Track Name: Back in Town
In the doorstep where the day begins, the sun seems to shine a little brighter
and the lady delivering mail has an extra step inside her
and the usual things that trouble me, none of them seem to matter
nothing gets me down when my baby's back in town

Oh my baby's back in town
fleeting moments with the speed of sound
I do my best to live in the here and now
while my baby's back in town

I laugh at every joke I hear although some of them ain't funny
those are the moments it's clear to me that happiness ain't bought with money
and even the hobo's paradise is a land of milk and honey
oh nothing get's me down when my baby's back in town

Oh my baby's back in town
fleeting moments with the speed of sound
I do my best to live in the here and now
while my baby's back in town
Track Name: Born To Be Stars
after school we'd hit the outdoor rink
slapshots until our ears would ring
he had a hell of a shot, he was quick on his feet
and I did my very best to compete
but some people in this world are born to be great
and some just don't have what it takes, born to be great

the year he was drafted he turned eighteen
only a kid headed straight for the big leagues
he met all of the heroes that he put up on his wall
and he never looked back despite leaving it all
some people in this world are born to be stars
and some don't know who they are, born to be stars

people lose touch, people part ways
people reminisce about the good old days
he was a brother, he was a friend
now I only see him on the internet
born to be stars

I used to spend all my time out at that open mic
and I'd drink too much to get over stage fright
I got lost in her words, lost in her voice
all of us did, we didn't have a choice
some people in this world are born to be great
and some don't have what it takes, born to be great

she sang Lucinda Williams and a few of her own
and I was the one who got to take her home
but she packed her bags and she headed east
in control of her own destiny
some people in this world are born to be stars
and some don't know who they are, born to be stars

people lose touch, people part ways
people reminisce about the good old days
she was a lover, she was a friend
now I only see her on the internet
born to be stars

some people in this world are born to be great
some just don't have what it takes
some people in this world are born to be stars
some just don't know who they are
some just don't know who they are

some don't know how lucky they are
Track Name: Coffee Shop #1
beautiful women in a coffee shop
laughing over espresso shots
hear the latest gossip spread around
so and so is married she's leaving town
so and so is married, she's getting' out
and one cup of coffee ain't quite enough
the waitress comes around with a second cup
today's drug of choice is a little caffeine
and a table at a shop on ninth street
where beautiful women drink coffee

close your eyes for just one minute
take your time but don't take too long
bless the beauty in the small things
and bless the small things when it's gone

beautiful women in a coffee shop
either they're not married or their rings are off
they talk about school, they talk about work
they talk about love and how much it hurts
they talk about love and how much it can hurt
and how it can come in mysterious ways
when you least expect it love comes in waves
sometimes as easy as one sugar, one cream
at a table in a shop on ninth street
where beautiful women drink coffee

close your eyes for just one minute
take your time but don't take too long
bless the beauty in the small things
and bless the small things when it's gone

beautiful women in a coffee shop
they talk about travel and wanderlust
they talk about london, I over hear spain
they dream about paris in the pouring rain
they dream about paris in the rain
I've been to england and I've been to france
I've kissed the mona lisa and held the queen for a dance
sailed the atlantic in summer time heat
now I'm in a shop on ninth street
where beautiful women drink coffee

close your eyes for just one minute
take your time but don't take too long
bless the beauty in the small things
and bless the small things when it's gone
Track Name: I Believe In You
wine glass stained with lipstick, lips stained with wine
maybe we should slow down, maybe call it a night
or maybe just one more bottle, that last one that bought
let's not think about tomorrow, that's for when tomorrow comes
back home it just hit dinner time, we've already rung that bell
whether or not this will all work out, it's too soon to tell
so kiss me like it's the last time, hold me like it's the first
give me everything you've got that you can't put into words

I'm just about tired of losing, but I'm not quite ready to win
It's somewhere in between where I have lost myself in
I am not a gambling man, but this may appear untrue
because baby, I believe in you

when I think of yellow roses, sometimes they are red
when I dream of wild horses it's when I'm taking you to bed
candlelight on the table, table full of fire
shadows on the wall suggest of a power to us higher
and is it really magic, or is magic just a trick
do you think that as it happens the truth can still exist
kiss me like it's the last time, hold me like I'm your own
give me one last number that you'd use to steal the show

I'm just about tired of losing, but I'm not quite ready to win
It's somewhere in between where I have lost myself in
I am not a gambling man, but this may appear untrue
because baby, I believe in you
Track Name: Change
everyone seems to have some good advice
a piece of wisdom they like to carry home
but a man ain't subject to much changing
until he can hold it for his own

sometimes it takes a little more than losing
the things that matter most to you
sometimes you don't know just how much they mean
unit they're not yours to lose

baby, I'm ready now
baby, I can change
I want to see the sunshine
I'm tired of the rain
I've been killing myself slowly
day after day
baby, I'm ready now
baby, I can change

I can't remember if we said goodbye
i've been filling my time with strange women and booze
but none of it means a god damn thing to me
I'd trade it all for you

someday I'd like to look back and laugh all about it
maybe you'd be there right by my side
it all feels like such a distant dream
like the far away look in your eyes

baby, I'm ready now
baby, I can change
I want to see the sunshine
I'm tired of the rain
I've been killing myself slowly
day after day
baby, I'm ready now
baby, I can change
Track Name: If I Should Become A Stranger
there's a mystery in how things came between us and our love
but there's a certain way that things fall into place
the only worse than losing everything we've come to know
is losing it all without a touch of grace

if I should ever become a stranger
nothing more than another casual encounter
know I've loved you from the day we met and I will until I die
if I should become a stranger, let this be one last goodbye

there's so much to talk about but so little left to say
to hell with the roses and romance
I think love is so much more than what we've come to realize
there may be heartache, but there's so much more than that

if I should ever become a stranger
nothing more than another casual encounter
know I've loved you from the day we met and I will until I die
if I should become a stranger, let this be one last goodbye
Track Name: Make Me A Mexican Wrestler
I work at the payless selling shoes
sell so many until it gets to you
don't get me wrong I like a pair or two
but working there is just something to do
sometimes I dream about getting away
I drink too much on Saturday
rent is due, I've got bills to pay
it's the end of the month and I'm always late

make me a mexican wrestler
the leader in my own parade
or how about a thieving bandit
about to make a narrow escape
make me a model in paris
or a singer in tennessee
take me out to hollywood
and put me in the movies

it's christmas time at the londonderry mall
kids line up to meet santa claus
pictures of jesus for the wall
it's his birthday after all
and there's another year rolling in
I'll start thinking about quitting again
going some place that I've never been
or the thoughts that fill my head

make me a mexican wrestler
the leader in my own parade
or how about a thieving bandit
about to make a narrow escape
make me a model in paris
or a singer in tennessee
take me out to hollywood
and put me in the movies
Track Name: My Friend Amber
at night, I go to the movies
grab a bag of popcorn and an iced cold pepsi
stare at the screen, study the acting
everyone is so damn attractive
at night, I go to the theatre
slip into the back and disappear
sometimes it’s busy, but often I’m alone
that’s when you’ll hear me crying as the credits roll

my friend Amber says that as you cry you’re making space
let go of one thing and have another take its place
my friend Amber says, life goes on I guess

at night, I go to the Denny’s
grab a cup of coffee and some eggs benny
I read the journal, I read the sun
I watch someone leave without even payin’
at night, I go to the diner
find a booth at the back in the corner
on Fridays it’s busy and during the week it’s slow
only a few folks with nowhere else to go, at night

my friend Amber says that as you cry you’re making space
let go of one thing and have another take its place
my friend Amber says, life goes on I guess

At night, I drive around aimless
I pretend my car is the fastest
I run yellows and I run reds
I’m a nascar driver while everyone’s in bed
at night, I’m racing the clock
try to make it home before the morning rush
traffic will kill you if you’re the restless kind
It try not to be so precious with my time, at night

my friend Amber says that as you cry you’re making space
let go of one thing and have another take its place
my friend Amber says, life goes on I guess
Track Name: One Day At A Time
I ran into my old roommate Erin on the side of the street outside
the shopper’s drug mart in the south
she was with her new fiancé, looking forward to her wedding day
which I had heard about through word of mouth
she said, ‘hello Braden, how are you?’ I said, ‘I’m pretty good and looks like you are to, I’m just taking this life just one day at a time’.
and after we exchanged a few conversational clichés
it was once again time for us to say goodbye

goodbye, nice to see you, what a pleasant surprise
as I take this life just one day at a time
goodbye, nice to know you, what a casual delight
as I take this life just one day at a time

I ran into my friend Ken Stead outside the staples print shop next to the home depot
he was printing posters for a show
I had just got into Edmonton, a little weary from all of the traveling, now Ken
was getting ready to hit the road
he said, ‘I’m headed west through Calgary, then onto the islands of BC
and I’m going to take the highway one mile at a time’
and after we played catch up on all the little things that pass us
it was once again time for us to say goodbye

goodbye, nice to see you, what a pleasant surprise
as I take this life just one day at a time
goodbye, nice to know you, what a casual delight
as I take this life just one day at a time

I was walking down whyte avenue, there in the distance a face I knew
of a lover from a long long time ago
it brought back laughter, it brought back pain, I remember dancing in the rain
I remember finding love and watching it go
as we crossed we said hello but not much more that’s just how it goes
love can leave you one day at a time
now the more I think about it, the less I seem to doubt
that sometimes it makes more sense to say goodbye

goodbye, nice to see you, what a pleasant surprise
as I take this life just one day at a time
goodbye, nice to know you, what a casual delight
as I take this life just one day at a time
Track Name: Old Strathcona Farmer's Market
old strathcona farmer’s market, it’s a Saturday kind of thing
listen to the melody that the buskers sing
the boys they buy their fruit, and the girls they buy theirs too
and the only thing that’s missing from this market is you

what are you doing working on a Saturday
what are you doing working on the weekend
what are you doing working on a Saturday
what’s the point of living if you work your life away

old strathcona farmer’s market, it’s an organic kind of thing
hippy dippy artsy fartsy, man I fit right in!
the boys they buy their vegetables, and the girls they buy theirs too
and the only thing that’s missing from this market is you

what are you doing working on a Saturday
what are you doing working on the weekend
what are you doing working on a Saturday
what’s the point of living if you work your life away
